Panaji (Goa): The Ports Administration has opened Aguada sand bar for water borne traffic for a period of six days but with a word of caution. The fishing trawlers, barges and vessels are asked to be extra caution while navigating through the areas as the navigational buoys in the rivers Mandovi and Zuari have been withdrawan.
“The Captain of Ports has granted permission allowing the vessels/barges to cross the Aguada Sand Bar from May 21 to May 26 to those that have applied for permission, at their own risk and perils, provided these have at all times valid survey certificate/valid Insurance, and weather permitting. All Owners /Masters /Crews /Fishing Vessels are required to exercise extra caution while navigating through the said areas as the Navigational buoys in the rivers Mandovi and Zuari have been withdrawan. Extra lookout/ watchkeeper to be on duty to avoid any mishap,” reads a circular issued this afternoon.
The vessels/ barges have also been prohibited from overtaking from Mandovi Bridges to mouth of Mandovi River. “The Vessels/Barges crossing the Aguada Sand Bar should carry 2/3rd of its carrying capacity. If these are holding extension survey certificate thrn these are not permitted to cross the area subject to inspection,” the circular adds.
In another instruction all Inland Vessels/ Crafts are asked to keep clear off ferry boats at ferry crossings. Permission can be called off any moment.
