Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho today said the amount granted for undertaking infrastructure development project, including construction of ‘Panchayat Ghars’, under Deendayal Panchayat Raj Infrastructure Development (Golden Jubilee) Scheme 2013 will be increased.
Replying to a calling attention moved by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Glenn Souza Ticlo, the minister said,”There are altogether 191 village panchayats in Goa, 179 panchayats are having their own panchayat ghars, 134 panchayat ghars are in very good conditions, 56 panchayat ghars need repairs out of which 43 are proposed for renovation and for construction of new building under GSIDC (Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation) and GTDC (Goa Tourism Development Corporation) under Deendayal Panchayat Raj Infrastructure Development (Golden Jubilee) Scheme 2013.”
Godinho said that, under this scheme, the government has granted maximum of Rs two crore to undertake the infrastructure development project, including construction of panchayat ghars. The amount will be enhanced to Rs 3.5 crore the proposal of which is under consideration of the government.
