Meet Amandeep Dahiya who is one of the finalists at RUBARU Mr India 2019 Mega Model Contest, as he tells us about his journey to the finale of the biggest Male Pageant in India.
TNV: When and how did you begin modelling? Were you studying or working before that?
AD: This is the first time I have entered this field as I was inspired by looking at the pictures of models in print/social media. I am currently pursuing Bachelors in Business Administration (BBA).
TNV: Why did you choose modelling when you could have settled in for a more stable permanent career?
AD: Apart from giving recognition and glamour, it is going to give me new opportunities and challenges. It is one of the fields that will enable me to represent at the national and international level. Not everyone is fortunate to be a part of this industry.
TNV: What do you think makes you a good model?
AD: My height and lean body combined with a positive attitude are something that makes me different from others. If you lack a positive attitude/confidence, even a good face and figure will have no impact. Attitude makes a huge difference. It enables us to deal with every situation.
TNV: Why did you choose RUBARU Mr India when there are so many local pageants happening?
AD: RUBARU Mr India will give me good exposure. I will be able to work with experienced and knowledgeable individuals. RUBARUMr India will give me such a platform that local pageants won’t be able to provide.
TNV: Did Mr India just happen to you along the way – or were you preparing to take part in the pageant?
AD: It just happened along the way. I didn’t plan for it. I am very happy to be one of the finalists.
TNV: Tell us about your training schedule. What is the regimen like? What are the challenges involved?
AD: I do work out 6 times a week which include – cardio, weight training, cross-fit.Apart from this, I follow a strict low carb diet. I am also working on my looks and poses. At times I do have cravings for sweets and tasty food that my mother prepares. This feels very challenging but I am very motivated to perform.
TNV: What makes you feel you should be the chosen one? What’s different about you as a contestant?
AD: Apart from having a good face, height and positive attitude, I am flexible when it comes to timings/places. I am hardworking and quite passionate about working as a model. I also wish to represent India someday.
TNV: How will winning Mr India pageant affect your life?
AD: It’s a great thing to win such a title. I will get recognition, new opportunities, new assignments. I may be someone’s role model. I will then have the ability to influence someone. I love to work for a good cause but currently, lack support. Winning this title can provide me with support.
TNV: What are your views about Save Girl Child campaign?
AD: In today’s generation, more than son it is the daughter who takes care of their parents during old age. Women are ahead of boys in many fields. What I do for my mother could be considered less when compared to what my mother does for me. I need a platform where I can share my ideas with the people to save girl child.
