The Goa Bank Employees Association (GBEA) has announced a two-day general strike on January 8-9 in response to a call by the National Trade Union Convention.

The general secretary of  GBEA AM Pereira said that the government, in the name of development, is implementing policies that will further make the rich richer at the cost of common people.

The trade unions have alleged that the trade union rights of workers are being weakened in the name of labour reforms.
