Panaji (Goa): In what could be an irony that a lady police sub inspector Devyani Naik, who was suspended three years for allegedly demanding bribe and re-instated later, is yet again suspended; this time for offering bribe to a senior officer.

The PSI currently attached with Women’s Police Station was suspended along with constable Chetan Naik for allegedly helping her in committing the act.

“We have issued their suspension order today after prima facie it was found they tried to bribe the DIG to close Devyani’s case,” said Inspector General of Police confirming the suspension late this evening.

Devyani is facing Departmental Enquiry into the same bribery allegation reported in 2013 December-end when she demanded Rs 2 lakh from a group of tourists. The brivery demand was essentially not to falsely implicate them in a narcotics case. She had also asked one of them to transfer the amount in her bank account.

DIG Vimal Gupta who is conducting this Enquiry, has also reportedly come under the scanner.

The two suspended officials now face another departmental enquiry.
