Calangute (Goa): The Calangute police have arrested two Nigerians for overstaying while a domestic tourist is booked for alleged drug trafficking.
The two foreign nationals – Ifeanyi Pascol Obi and Innocent Nwogbo Ifesinachi, both temporarily residing at Arambol and Parra respectivel were arrested last night. PI Jivba Dalvi informed that the duo was arrested following an inquiry. “They were not found with any passport or travel document. They were arrested under section 14 of Foreigners Act, 1946 for contravening various sections of Passport Entry into India Act and Foreigners Entry Act. They are remanded to 14 days judicial custody and FRRO has been informed to intimate the Nigerian Embassy,” he said. In the May month, a Nigerian was arrested for drugs case.
In another raid on an alleged drug trafficker, the police arrested a Rajasthan-native Ankit Singh (25) for possessing ganja weighing 190 gms. “The accused was working in a hotel at Calangute as a receptionist. We are also probing where he would supply drugs,” the officer said.
The coastal belt witnessed a number of crackdowns last month right from busting of a prostitution racket wherein a Bangaloe-based Harish Sukumar was arrested and a Delhi native victim girl was rescued to arresting an elderly notorious criminal on charges of murder, etc. Earlier this month, 11 tourists from Delhi and Haryana were arrested for assaulting two police constables at Calangute beach.
