Calangute police rescues 17-yr-old kidnapped girl

In a quick rescue operation, the Calangute police arrested a Belgaum- Karnataka native on charges of allegedly kidnapping an underage girl from a local village here.

Sameer alias Raya, who has been staying on a temporary address at a coastal village was arrested after a long interrogation session at the police station.

“The girl’s family lodged a complaint that their 17-year-old daughter is missing since 00:45am on Saturday. Raya was summoned to the police for questioning since she was last seen with him. He confessed to have kidnapped her after which we placed him under arrest,” police inspector Jivba Dalvi said.

Police sub inspector Mahesh Naik was deputed to Bagalkote, Belgaum to rescue the girl where she was held hostage. “We have cracked the case within 24 hours,” the officer said adding that accused is remanded to 10 days police custody for interrogation.
