SURESH AMONKAR APPOINTED AS KONKANI ACADEMY PRESIDENT

PANAJI After constant demand by Konkani activists, the Goa Government has appointed Suresh Gundu Amonkar as the president of Goa Konkani Academy. Amonkar has served as the chairman of Goa Higher Secondary Board and has also been honoured with Padma Shri award in 2009 for his work by the Government of India.

CARNIVAL FESTIVITIES TO BEGIN FROM MARCH 2: TOURISM MINISTER

PANAJI Tourism minister Manohar Azgaonkar today informed that the Goa Carnival festivities will commence in the state from March 2 onwards. Azgaonkar also said that after an unimpressive response from the tourists during Christmas and New Year celebrations, the tourism department is expecting better influx during the carnival. The float parades will begin from Panaji on March 2, he said.
