Panaji (Goa) The Congress legislative party (CLP) that met today evening resolved to provide full support to the Government in their action to crackdown on the illicit drug trade in the State.
Speaking to reporters after meeting, Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar said his MLAs have received letter from Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar restraining them from making statements against police and to provide leads if any, on police-drug peddler nexus.
“CLP has decided to provide full support to the government to curb this menace. We all need to be united in this matter. If our MLAs come to know about any such activities, the police and Chief Minister will be informed,” he said.
CLP however, expressed unhappiness over government failure to crackdown on the mafias involved in the drug trade.
Kavlekar said that government machinery need to have proactive approach to eliminate the problem.
