Panaji (GOA): The Manohar Parrikar led coalition government on Monday announced its much hyped and promised Common Minimum Program (CMP) under the theme ‘sabka saath sabka vikas- with Goemkarponn’- which assures to declare Coconut as ‘State Tree’ by reclassifying it as a tree.
“CMP would be the priority for this government, and would go a long way towards the welfare of the state of Goa,” Parrikar told media persons while releasing the document.
Revisiting the Agriculture Tenancy Act, special mamlatdar courts to dispose-off tenancy cases, protection to agriculture and khazan land, review of projects approved under Investment Promotion Board (IPB) in last two years, modifying tourism policy, housing for all by 2022, rehabilitation of slums, drafting Regional Plan 2030, to execute tripartite MOU between Inland Waterways Authority of India, MPT and Captain of Ports to ensure that the rivers of Goa are managed by the State, are some of the major highlights of the CMP.
The CMP, however failed to give any concrete assurance on shifting the off shore casino vessels out of River Mandovi. “Formulate and implement policy on floating casinos on the river Mandovi to shift them from the present location,” the documents stated without specifying by when the off shore casinos would be moved out of the Mandovi water.
Similarly, what can upset the pro-Konkani and Marathi language supporters; the Coalition government has kept the controversial medium of instruction (MOI) policy unchanged, and thereby continuing grants to 137 English medium primary schools.
As promised on the Floor of the House while placing the State Budget, Government has assured to review the impact of benefit of its introduced social welfare schemes like Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS), Girha Adhar, Laadli Laxmi and Dayanand Swasthya Seva Yojana (DSSY).
Government has reiterated its promise to make Goa garbage free by 2022.
The CMP focuses on setting up agriculture, horticulture colleges and estates, speeding up infrastructural works, Set up Institutions of Physiotherapy, Sports and Sports Medicines and Centre for Film Production & Studies, etc.
