COLLECTORS BEGIN PROCESS TO INQUIRE INTO DUAL CITIZENSHIP ISSUE

PANAJI ( GOA) The respective district collectors have invited applications within three months to inquire into the issue of dual citizenship, following directions from the Central government. 
 
District collectors have today issued public notice inviting application and objections accompanied by all the supporting documents, from the residents within a period of three months. 
 
” It is for the purpose of inquiring into the issue of acquisition of citizenship of another country  by such residents and make appropriate recommendation to the Central government in resolving the issue,” the notice reads. 
 
The district collectors have to conduct inquiry in fair and transparent manner. The applications will have to be delt on case to case basis. 
 
Over thousands of Goans have acquired Portuguese citizenship, some prior to 1961 and several others post liberation. These Goans are seized to be Indian citizens.
