Community meeting between police and public held at Calangute

Calangute (Goa): A community meeting between police and public was held at Calangute police station on May 3, 2017. The meeting was organised by Jivba Dalvi, PI of Calangute police station and was presided by Karthik Kashyap, Superintendent of Police (North Goa).  The meeting was attended by around 70 people, which included shack owners, hoteliers and other prominent citizens.

Different issues were discussed in the meeting. Bringing forth their queries, the people highlighted the need for the presence of police staff in certain areas during night time, even the shack owners discussed the problems faced by them with some tourists who consume alcohol and throw the bottles/cans on the beach which is hazardous and dangerous to the general public. Speaking to the people, SP Karthik Kashyap said that he has given instructions to arrest any person found drinking in a public place or any open area, under section 34 of the Indian Police Act and also requested the people to inform the police if such things are noticed by them, so that appropriate action can be taken against such people.

Meanwhile, PI Jivba Dalvi informed that they are doing pro-active policing and within a span of four months they have booked four cases of drugs under NDPS Act and busted three prostitution rackets wherein they were successful in rescuing eight prostitution victims.
