Panaji (Goa): Raising its strong opposition to the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board (IPFB), re-constituted on Friday, the Congress party tagged the Board as ‘demon’ alleging it to be a single window for destruction of Goa and Goenkarpon.

“The BJP-led coalition government’s decision to reconstitute IPFB is a mother of all U-turns. The Board is ‘demon’ and it will continue to remain single window for destruction of ‘Goen’ and Goenkarpon,” Congress media cell chairman Adv Yatish Naik told media persons.

Naik said that the Congress party had opposed its constitution earlier and even today it continues its opposition. “We want government to get rid of it,” he demanded.

The government on Friday reconstituted IPFB under chairmanship of Manohar Parrikar, with coalition partners- Minister for Information Technology Rohan Khaunte and Minister for Tourism Manohar Azgaonkar as its vice chairmen.

Naik said that certain independent MLAs, who have now formed the party called Goa Forward and are in alliance with BJP, were opposing the IPFB prior to election. “Post election, they have become part and parcel of IPFB formation. This proves that they (GFP) are there for lust of power,” he said.

Congress claimed that contentious issues like IPFB are likely to be bone of contention between BJP and its allies while drafting the Common Minimum Programme (CMP). “We are looking forward for the CMP, where coalition partners announced to review IPFB proposals. Let us wait and watch whether this is going to be another U-turn,” he said.
