Vasco (Goa): It was congress workers versus Airport Authority of India at Dabolim airport this morning.
The Congress party activists today confronted Airport Authority of India’s Goa facility director B CH Negi over the public meeting by BJP President Amit Shah in the airport premises on Saturday.
The activist who met Negi in his cabin inside the airport building this morning claimed that the director has admitted that “no permission was granted to the public meeting.”
The Congress party workers led by All India Congress Committee Secretary Girish Chodankar questioned Negi today whether airport authority would allow his party to hold such a meeting at the same spot.
“We asked the airport director to show us the permissions which he admitted that the meeting was not permitted. We have asked Airport authority to India to file a formal police complaint of trespass against the concerned persons,” Chodankar said.
He said that holding such a meeting at the airport which is inside the defence base do not augur well for the security of the country. “Even photography is not allowed on this airport and how can anyone allow public meeting here?,” the Congress leader questioned.
When contacted, Negi refused to comment and said that he is looking into the matter as he was on leave on that particular day and has joined duty today.
Shah who was on his two day long visit to Goa held meeting at Goa airport complex on Saturday in presence of State Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
The meeting had drawn widespread criticism with social activist Aires Rodrigues filing a formal complaint with the Union Civil Aviation ministry over the meeting terming it to be illegal.
