Betul  (Goa): Not even a week that anti corruption branch booked him for having assets disproportionate to his actual income, Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar is now booked in gambling case.
The crime branch raided his lavish bungalow at Betul in South Goa to find that one room was full of matka slips and papers, one of which had a handwritten word ‘Kalyan’.
“We received the order from the special court giving a go ahead to raid his premise after which our team searched the room, and found thousands of matka slips,” superintendent of police Kartik Kashyap said.
The tip off was after the ACB had searched the house last Saturday to stumble upon Kavlekar’s office room having these slips. The office room is located in the very same bungalow.
“We will question Kavlekar on this matter. The probe is a part of the main FIR booked against various people and matka bookies,” he said.
Kavlekar is also facing ACB’s investigation that has booked him for disproportionate assets to the rune of over Rs 4 crores.
