Panaji (Goa): Goa Congress party today demanded that all the coal-related infrastructure projects, sanctioned by the Central government, be stopped immediately.

Address a press conference, Congress MLA Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco demanded that all coal-related infrastructure projects in Goa be stopped immediately and a high-level inquiry be conducted into the corruption and misuse of power by Nitin Gadkari and other BJP leaders.

He charged that the proposed projects are aimed towards benefiting the private corporations, which are funding agents for BJP for election.

“The BJP government, both at Centre and State are totally corrupt and are working only for the profit of private corporations, without any care or concern for Indians at large,” the MLA charged.

Lourenco said that the BJP government is spending thousands of crores of public funds to build roads and other infrastructure so that these private companies can transport coal through Goa. “Government has proved beyond doubt that it is anti-Goan and anti-people and that its only aim is to serve corporations that want to make profits by destroying our economies, culture an environment,” he said.

He said that the entire State of Goa is willing to stand up and defeat the sick plans made by BJP to destroy Goa for the benefit of their corporate masters.

Congress too has extended its support to the people in their fight.
