CONGRESS AFRAID OF BEING EXPOSED DUE TO AMENDMENT IN TCP ACT: SARDESAI

PANAJI

TCP minister Vijai Sardesai, on Friday, alleged that the Congress government, during its tenure, had illegally converted 16 crore square metres of agricultural land purchased by non-Goans, into settlement zone.

Sardesai also alleged that many Congress leaders had accepted money to facilitate this land conversion, and are afraid of being exposed.

” A lot of Conversions of agricultural land into settlement zone was done under the Regional Plan 2021 when Digambar Kamat was the chief minister,” Sardesai said.

The Congress party has been criticizing the TCP minister for amending the Town and Country Planning Act, which makes the provision of case-to-case conversions for landowners, who will have to follow stern procedures as described in theAct.

“Congress leaders had accepted money to convert the land during their tenure and are now afraid of being exposed, which is why they are opposing Amendments to the Act,” Sardesai said.
