Margao (Goa): The long overdue desilting of the Dambab Talli at Fatorda was commenced on 27th May 2017 by the Water Resources Department in the presence of Shri Vijai Sardesai, Minister for TCP & Agriculture. The Dambab Talli, which is part of the Damodar Temple at Fatorda is also used for immersion of Ganesh idols during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations every year. Though it is considered very propitious by citizens of Fatorda & Margao, the Dambab Talli had been largely neglected over the last many years leading to considerable siltation.

Vijai Sardesai had inspected the Talli in April and had promised to take up the desiltation work before the rains. While briefing the press at the site, Sardesai explained that the desilting work would be completed within one week and subsequently beautification and restoration of Dambab Talli would be taken up to restore the heritage site to its earlier glory. He pointed out that this was just a beginning and that all promises made by him will be fulfilled without exception.
