Panaji (Goa): After former chief minister Digambar Kamat requested the special investigation team (SIT) to appear for illegal mining investigation on Friday, the investigating officer has summoned son Yogiraj in connection with the case. The summons notice was issued hours after Kamat informed the authorities about his absence today.
“We have summoned Yogiraj for deposition on November 22, at 4pm,” SP Kartik Kashyap said.
Kamat did not turn up before the SIT at Crime Branch office this morning citing ill-health. The SIT is probing Kamat’s role in a case filed in September 2014 against another politician Prafulla Hede wherein delay for renewal of lease for a mine at Collem was condoned by the government in an irregular manner, incidentally when Kamat was holding Mines portfolio. Kamat has served as CM for a period from 2007-12 while he is the longest serving Mines Minister from 2000-12.
