Panaji (Goa) Goa Forward Party (GFP) today said that it will try and convince all the MLAs- both ruling and opposition in favour of installation of Dr Jack Sequeira’s statue in the State Assembly Complex.
The party further said that BJP MLA and deputy Speaker Michael Lobo has assured them to move a private member resolution during the Budget session in support of installation of statue.
Addressing a press conference, GFP chief spokesperson Trajano D’Mello said that the party’s political affairs committee has decided to continue its fight for the demand of statue and to also convince all the legislators for the same.
“Lobo has announced publicly and also informed our leader that he will introduce private member resolution during the Budget session. Our three Ministers’- Vijay Sardessai, Jayesh Salgonkar and Vinod Palyenkar has decided to extend their support to the resolution on the floor of the House. They will also convince other 36 MLAs for their support,” D’Mello said.
D’Mello said that the demand is not political but it is public demand and GFP respects people’s sentiments.
D’Mello said that GFP has managed to convince Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for inclusion of Opinion Poll into school curriculum, which will be done soon.
