PUNE: City based Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering has taken initiatives to develop ‘electric vehicle’ awareness to its engineering students.
Electrical department has recently taken ‘E-Rikshaw’ for various UG, PG and PhD level projects and experimentations in the areas of battery, super-capacitor, motors and mechanical systems.
This E-Rikshaw was purchased through research grant, under TQIP scheme.
Dr. Anand Bhalerao, Principal of Bharati Vidyapeeth said that this was first initiative in Pune to bring awareness about importance of EV in the minds of students through projects and experiments by students on EV. “This E Rikshaw will give platform for its faculty and students to develop low cost EVs through research projects,” said Dr. Anand Bhalerao
He pointed out that if Indian transportation system is to change from conventional vehicles to electric vehicles then we need to educate our students at school and college levels about its importance. He was of the opinion that UGC and AICTE should give grants to various educational institutes for purchase of electric vehicles for use and research projects.
