Pune: Walkers in Dighi area alerted the police after they found eight ‘bomb-like’ objects in the hilly defence area around 10.30 am on Wednesday.

Cops rushed to the spot and later informed the defence authorities. According to the police, citizens were alarmed after seeing the objects. The police confirmed that the suspicious objects were bombs, and it was later diffused.

The area is used by defence personnel for ammunition practice and the bombs must have been left due to negligence.

Police are investigating the case.

Last week, a beggar found a bomb-like object in a dustbin and tried to break it open for scrap metal, causing injury to three persons as the bomb exploded from the impact.
