Panaji (GOA) ERONET- a new portal introduced by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to facilitate voters to get registered for voter ID and necessary changes like deletion in the photo identity card, was launched in Goa today.
The Chief Electoral Office (CEO) also set the ball rolling for special summary revision- 2018 across all its assembly constituencies, with reference to January 1, 2018 as qualifying date. January 8, 2018 will be the final publication date of the updated database.
The web-based facility was launched by Goa Governor Dr Mridula Sinha .
ERONET is developed under the National Mobile Governance Initiative by Department of Electronics and Information and Technology, Government of India and C-DAC.
The major benefit of this system is that the voter can upload personal details at his or her level. This will reduce chances of mistakes in voter card details.
CEO IAS Kunal urged people to use this app on their mobile for correction in the voter’s data. “It’s a step taken for a successful democracy, to get purity in the Electoral Roll and will revolutionize the electoral system. The process will be paperless, smooth and faster than earlier,” he added
After online registration, voters will get a unique ID, with which they can check the status of the application till the completion of the registration process. The online application will directly reach the Election Returning Officer (ERO), BLO and supervisor. After receiving the request, the BLO will contact the voter for verification.
