Indian Super League club FC Pune City secured a 3-3 draw against FC Goa on Thursday in their second game in the AWES Cup at Tilak Maidan, Vasco.
FC Pune City dominated the proceedings from the start.
A free-kick from Diego Carlos was headed towards the goal by Matthew Mills but the ball rebounded. Mills, however, managed to tap the rebound into the net to open the account for Stallions.
At the back, FC Pune City goalkeeper Bilal Khan was in top form making some important saves.
Carlos got into the thick of things again just before half-time as he doubled the visitors’ lead.
At halftime, the score read 2-0 in favour of FC Pune City.
Going into the second half, FC Goa made a stirring comeback as Hayden Fernandes opened the scoring. FC Goa maintained the tempo pushing back the visitors with consistent pressure. The result was an equaliser for FC Goa via Lalampuia followed by a third putting the Goan side in the lead.
But FC Pune City found inspiration in Emiliano Alfaro as he scored an injury-time equaliser with the game ending in a thrilling 3-3 draw.
FC Pune City will next face Dempo SC on September 9.
The club is in training in Goa and participating in this tournament in the run-up to the fifth season of the Indian Super League which begins September 29.
