Panaji (GOA) The Goa medical college and hospital (GMC) today successfully conducted two cochlear implant surgeries on kids, both aged four years, suffering from hearing disability.
The surgeries were conducted as per the MoU signed by GMC with Central Government. Mumbai based doctor Deepak Dalmiya conducted the surgeries.
The first surgery was held in the morning, while the second took place in the afternoon.
“We operated two children today successfully. More will be operated in days to come,” medical superintendent Dr Shivanand Bandekar said.
A cochlear implant is a small, complex electronic device that can help provide a sense of sound to a person who suffers from severe or profound deafness.
