The FDA stopped 11 fish trucks from unloading at Margao wholesale market in an early morning raid. Meanwhile, 4 more fish trucks were stopped at Polem check post.

The fish traders have said that FDA is encroaching PDA’s authority as FDA can only check the fish. Traders have also said that they have been permitted by PDA to trade in their area. Raising question on FDA’s role in the market, traders have stated that FDA should also ask for a license from local fishing boat owners.

The traders have accused FDA of harassment.
