Goa Water Resources Minister Vinod Paliencar on Tuesday said that the state government will file a contempt petition before the Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribal as Karnataka has already diverted the flow of the Mahadayi water at Kalsa-Bhandura.

Speaking to reporters, he said,’our team will file in court tomorrow an application, including contempt of court, before the Tribunal.

Digging work has been carried out at the Kalsa-Bhanduri nullah and the flow of (Mhadei) water towards Goa has been stopped and has been diverted towards the Malaphrabha (river) basin. Therefore we are filing an application and contempt of court before Tribunal.”

The three neighbouring states– Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra — are having a dispute over the Kalsa-Bhandura dam project across River Mhadei at the tribunal.
