Panaji (GOA) Congress party’s State vice President Akbar Mulla today joined the Goa Forward Party (GFP), the coalition partners in the present State government.
Mulla is one of the three accused in the case of alleged misappropriation of GCA funds worth Rs 3.13 crore. He was also placed under arrest for the fraud.
GFP President and Minister for Agriculture Vijay Sardessai, Housing Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar, WRD Minister Vinod Palyekar and Member Atanasio Monserrate welcomed Mulla into the party.
“Goa is witnessing political climate change for better future. More and more people are willing to unit with the movement of Goa Goen Goemkarpon,” Sardessai told reporters.
Sardessai said that Congress leaders have slowly started feeling being used and thrown.
Minister gave him a clean chit to Mulla in the GCA scam stating that he was falsely implicated in the case. “The forensic report has clearly said that the signature is not his and forged. He was fixed in that case,” he said.
Later speaking, Mulla said that he felt betrayed and used by the Congress top leaders for their selfish gain. “Congress is using the minorities as their vote bank and for purpose of canvassing during election,” he said.
Mulla has appealed all the minorities in the State not to support the Congress party anymore. He has asked people to vote for BJP candidates for Panjim and Valpoi by-election.
