Panaji (Goa): The annual five-day-long Goa Food and Cultural Festival 2017 concluded on Sunday with the Goa Tourism claiming it to be a grand success.
The department of public relations officer stated that the gala event attracted lakhs of tourists and local Goans. Entertainment from various national bands, Goan artists and cultural programmes drew large crowds on all five days especially on the final day.
“The festival showcased the true essence of Goa through a number of cultural performances, Goan music, folk lore and Goan delicacies. Food stalls serving a blend of cuisines and beverages of Goa were bustling with activity,” said the PR.
The double remote digital inauguration, the mammoth stage featuring a huge LED wall to feature innovative creative content, live food demos, live feni distillation, cooking competitions and scintillating cocktails were some of the major highlights this year. “The local brew Feni distillation unit saw huge attendance of the visitors. They were explained the method of how Feni is extracted from cashews and coconuts. These also have medicinal value and are unique in the country, “he said. Tourism Minister Babu Azgaonkar had recently proposed to host Feni Festival on lines with the lifestyle and wine festival Grape Escapade, annually.
Back to the Food and Cultural event, many also enjoyed the performance of Goa’s very own Lorna, Sonia Shirsat and Joe D’costa.
The sound and lights were managed by India’s best Sound Engineer Roger Drego and Michael Nazareth designed the lightings for the festival.
