Goa’s most successful First-Class bowler, Shadab Jakati has lashed out at Goa Cricket Association president Suraj Lotlikar for not keeping the state’s interest in mind while signing former India captain Mohammadd Azharuddin’s son Mohammad Asaduddin and Amit Verma for Goa Ranji squad for the upcoming 2018-19 season.
Shadab said that Asaduddin, who is 29-year-old, has never played a single Ranji Trophy match nor a first-class match and Amit Verma who is from Karnataka, has shifted states due to his poor performances.
Shadab said that Goan players like Swapnil Asnodkar and Saurav Bandekar have better performances and are better than the outstation players being brought in.
“GCA president is not bothered about Goan players. My fellow teammates, Swapnil and Saurav, have better performances and are also fit and capable in every aspect than Asaduddin and Amit, on what basis are you taking these outstation players? questioned Shadab.
Shadab has also revealed shocking details in his accusation of a conspiracy to keep him out of cricket despite having picked a five-wicket haul against Punjab in last season’s Ranji Trophy match. Former great of Goan cricket, Namdev Fadte has voiced his disappointment over the injustice meted out to highly experienced Jakati in particular.
