The Goa Mining People’s Front (GMPF), an umbrella organization of mining dependents, has demanded the state government to speed up the process of amending laws so that mining can resume in the state.
The GMPF has been demanding that the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Bill, 1957 be amended so that mining restart.
Members of GMPF met Goa Assembly Speaker Pramod Sawant on Friday and asked to ensure that the amendment is passed quickly in Parliament.
Sources have said that Sawant has assured the GMPF members that state government was doing all that was possible to resume mining in the state.
