Panaji (Goa) After its debacle in 2017 Goa legislative assembly election, the Aam Admi Party (AAP) on its fifth foundation day has vowed to make a comeback in the State by building the unit from a scratch.

The party, which had contested in 39 out of 40 constituencies in Goa Legislative Assembly election of 2017, had lost its deposits in most of the constituencies except couple of them, shocking the leaders.

“After the results there was slight disappointment amongst the party workers but we could overcome it within two months and the party started working on the rebuilding of the units,” party’s state convenor Elvis Gomes said today.

Gomes was in Delhi where the party celebrated five years of its foundation.

Gomes said that the resentment against the current BJP-led Goa government has made people realise the worth of having a party which works for the welfare of common man.

“AAP has focused on certain constituencies and we are getting good response from the people there,” he said.

Earlier to Goa elections, AAP had projected itself to the party which will ride to the power claiming that the majority of the people were with them. Gomes was even announced as chief ministerial candidate, who unsuccessfully contested from South Goa’s Cuncolim assembly constituency.

Gomes said that the party is now ready to face 2019 Lok Sabha polls and will contest from both the seats – North and South Goa.

While party claims that majority of its leaders are with the organization, they witnessed few protests when one of its candidate Ashish Kanekar who had contested from Valpoi assembly constituency joined Congress party and four other candidates from different constituencies addressed press conferences criticizing the leadership.
