Panaji (Goa) In a statement issued today, AAP Goa Convenor Elvis Gomes said the Bombay High Court order is a direct indictment of the Manohar Parrikar government at whose request the Ministry of Environment and Forest had issued the notification shifting jurisdiction of Goa cases from the Pune bench to the NGT’s principal bench in Delhi.
“It is a slap on their face. The State government had acted clandestinely to put hurdles in the path of scores of Goa’s environmentalists and green warriors toiling hard to protect Goa,” Gomes said.
Fortune has smiled on Goa with the Bombay High Court order destroying the Parrikar-led political establishment’s evil intent of obliterating Goa’s vigilant green brigade to allow indiscriminate destruction of Goa’s ecologically sensitive and scarce land resource for windfall kickbacks, Gomes added.
Gomes also said Goa has a strong case for demanding location of the NGT bench in the State what with over 60 per-cent cases in Pune being filed from Goa.
AAP will pursue this demand to have the NGT bench located here in Goa, he added.
