Calangute (Goa):Absconding accused wanted in a robbery case was on Thursday arrested by Calangute police. Rohan Simepurushkar, aged 32 years has been on the run for over a month, after three local court had rejected his anticipatory bail application in the case.
As per reports police had registered an offence under sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 504 (intentional insult with intend to provoke breach of peach), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 394 (voluntarily cauding hurt in robbery) read with 34 (comon intention) of IPC against Simepurushkar, a Calangute resident and Shyam Naik from Arpora for committing robbery of one gold chain and hurting their victim last month. Accordingly immediately the accused persons approached the court for anticipatory bail, PI Jivba Dalvi informed stating that police strongly objected to it and subsequently the bail applications were rejected. Both the accused then absconded. “However today (Thursday) police received information about Simepurushkar and a team was formed to nab him. PSI Mahesh Naik along with team camped near his residence and nabbed him when he had come to see his father,” the PI said. Police have lodged the accused in lockup. Dalvi informed that police will soon arrest the second accused too.
Simepurushkar was recently in the news when two persons namely Cepriano Rusar Heredia and his brother Rocky Rusar Heredia, residents of Divar had stabbed him in July at Baga. The men were soon arrested for attempted murder while Simepurushkar was undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College, Bambolim. The attack was a result of their previous enmity.
