Panaji (Goa) Several days after being booked for sexual harassment, social activist Aires Rodrigues has moved for anticipatory bail fearing arrest by the Crime Branch.
A married woman had accused Rodrigues of sexual harassment and outraging modesty by posting her picture on Facebook and linking her with the sex scam allegedly involving State Minister Vinod Paliencar.
Rodrigues who appeared before the Crime Branch today morning has filed anticipatory bail petition before North Goa Principal and District Sessions Judge, which would be heard tomorrow at 9.30 a.m.
The court has also issued notice to the Crime Branch directing them to remain present tomorrow with their say on the anticipatory bail plea by Rodrigues.
Rodrigues told reporters that he had visited Crime Branch in the morning and had assured them that he would come again on Monday.
“But the Crime Branch reneged on its word and later this afternoon issued me a notice directing me to appear before them tomorrow at 3 pm. and hence I was compelled to move for anticipatory bail to uphold the rule of law,” the social activist said.
