Panaji (Goa) No amount of explanation given by Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar seems to be working for him. The Crime Branch has now included case against him under Goa Gambling Act in the major anti-gambling investigation.
The Crime Branch will also move to District and Sessions Court to cancel his interim anticipatory bail, the hearing for which will be held tomorrow.
The probe against Kavlekar has been made a part of larger probe which was initiated by social activist Kashinath Shetye way back in 2015. The high court has already asked Crime Branch to form the Special Investigation Team.
“The FIR under Goa Gambling Act filed against Kavlekar will now be linked to the main case against the matka (gambling). It will be a part of wider investigation against the gambling in the State,” a senior police officer said.
Crime Branch on September 22 had questioned the Leader of Opposition for almost one and half hour for which he had appeared after getting interim anticipatory bail.
