GOA: BIRD FESTIVAL OF GOA TO BE MADE A MAJOR EVENT: PARRIKAR

Canacona (Goa)  Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar how announced that the Bird Festival of Goa would be declared as a major event from the year 2019 onwards.

Parrikar addressing the participants at annual Bird Festival of Goa event which is organised by State Forest department and other NGOs at Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary, Canacona.  

The festival is co-hosted by State Tourism Department, Economic Development Corporation and Goa Bird Conservation Network.

“In the year 2019, we would declare this festival as one of the major event of the State,” Parrikar said cautioning that having festival at a large scale in the protected areas might not be a feasible idea.

“I know the constraint of having more people for such festival. Bird festival would be held considering specific carrying capacity of the place where it is held,” the chief minister said.

He said that the festival could be held at different places so that the “participants have wider choice and more number of footfalls can be accommodated.”

Parrikar also said that the State wants to have 12 major and equal number of minor events during the year in the State on different aspects.
