Panaji (Goa) State Government’s Cabinet Advisory Committee (CAC) on Teusday will be discussing the crucial issue of filing review petition before the Supreme Court in connection with the mining leases.
CAC member and Senior minister Sudin Dhavalikar said that they are yet to take the call on the issue of filing review petition as senior lawyer Harish Salve, who has been appointed to advice the state it.
“CAC will be meeting on Tuesday where we will be discussing all the points in the meeting regarding filing of the Review petition before the Supreme Court,” Dhavalikar said talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function held to observe birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar.
He said that the opinion has been sought on the issue from Harish Salve who is yet to revert back on it.
The mining industry in the State had come to standstill from March 16, 2018 after Supreme Court through its order on February 07, 2018 had quashed 88 mining leases. The state government had decided to seek legal opinion on filing review petition before the Supreme Court against the order.
The CAC has already sent a draft of the petition to Salve and after his opinion is sought, the state government has decided to approach Attorney General of India to file Review Petition.
