Calangute (Goa): Calangute police arrested two men for allegedly duping a tourist on pretext of supplying a girl “for enjoyment.” Sachin Rathod and Raj Pawar, both residents of Candolim and native of Karnataka were placed under arrest following a complaint that they cheated the complainant of Rs 5000. Further when the complainant contacted Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi , he himself laid a trap to nab the accused persons. Accordingly both the accused persons were again contacted to provide one more girl and they came to collect money. “The Complainant identified both accused and in a short operation by the police, they were successfully arrested. The cash of Rs 5000 was recovered and the mobile phones used by the accused persons to carry out the cheating were attached,” the PI said. An offence has been registered against the accused persons under sections 420 for cheating and 34 common intention of IPC.
PI Dalvi informed that these types of activities malign the name of Calangute and Goa as whole in the world and strict action as per law will be initiated against those culprits. Local MLA Michael Lobo has time and again raised the issue of flourishing sex trade in the coastal belt and demanded crackdown on the illicit trade. A video, which recently went viral on social media showing three women soliciting customers with the offer of sex service, has all again shown the grimy underbelly of Calangute.
