Calangute (Goa) In a major breakthrough Calangute police have successfully busted a international prostitution racket at Candolim and rescued 05 victim girls including 03 foreign national victim girls.
As per PI Jivba Dalvi reliable information was received through sources that one pimp is operating from a guest house at Bamonwado, Candolim, Bardez-Goa. Immediately NGO Scan-India was contacted for assistance and accordingly NGO members Sonia Shetyekar, Harshal Mandrekar and Miss. Elaine Fernandes appeared at the police station. Meanwhike the guest house was identified as Green Peace holiday homes. Further a raiding team was formed and everyone was briefed for the raid.
PI Dalvi along with the raiding team than proceeded to the guest house and upon identification the guest house was circled. Further when the apartment was opened one pimp was found along with 05 victim girls. During the raid it was revealed that 03 victim girls were from Uzbekistan and 02 victim girls were from Hyderabad and Maharashtra respectively. The pimp was identified as Mr. Dhananjay Kumar Mohanty, age 22 yrs N/o Kalahi, Baleshwar, Odisha. During the raid total cash if Rs. 1,25,000/- was along with 07 mobile phones have been seized by the police.
The guest house has been sealed by the police after the conclusion of the raid.
The victims girls were later produced before the Sub Divisional Magistrate Mapusa-Goa and after obtaining orders they have been lodged in Protective Home Merces for safe custody and protection.
PI Dalvi added that the victim girls had stated that another person many Chandan used to supply them to customers and he used to mostly operate through mobile phone.
Accordingly the mobile number was obtained and immediately put on tracking.
Another team was formed immediately and directed to nab the second pimp namely Chandan. After hectic efforts and quick action the second pimp Mr. Chandan Kumar Patra, age-27 yrs, R/o Baleshwar, Odisha was arrested near Calangute circle while he was attempting to flee from Goa. Presently both the accused persons have been lodged in police custody and more remand will be sought.
An offence under section 370, 370(3) R/w 34 IPC and sections 3, 4, 5 & 7 of Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act has been registered.
