GOA: CALANGUTE POLICE SEIZE CULTIVATED CANNABIS PLANT IN NARCOTIC RAID

Calangute (Goa): In a first of a kind major narcotic raid Calangute police have seized one illegally cultivated cannabis plants at Aradi, Candolim, Goa.
PI  Jivba Dalvi informed that reliable information was received from sources that one cannabis plant is being grown illegally in a property at Aradi, Candolim. Accordingly a team was formed and directed to conduct the raid. Further during the raid cannabis plant which was well concealed from the public was noticed. Accordingly two accused persons Mr. Susanta Sahoo, age 26 yrs and Mr. Pravash salam , age 20 yrs who were gardening the cannabis plant were arrested. Further the cannabis plant was cut into small size and seized by the police. Also some hookahs found in the adjacent room were seized and the room used by the accused was also sealed. The raid went on from 05:30 pm to 08:00 pm in the night. Further the arrested persons informed that the said plants was being cultivated by their owner Mr. Lanny Filho R/o Candolim. The owner of the property Mr. Lanny Fialho has been booked by the police. An offence under section 20(a)(I) of NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered. The seized plants weighed to be total 10 kg and is valued at approximately Rs. 10,00000/-.

The raid was conducted by PI Jivba Dalvi consisting of PSI Sitaram Malik, police constables Yogesh Bordekar, Ganpat Tiloji, and Brahmanand Polji.

Further investigation is in progress with PSI Sitaram Malik under the supervision of PI Jivba Dalvi.
