PANAJi (GOA)The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday set the campaign expense limit per candidate for the by-election to Rs 20 lakhs.
In a press statement issued by the ECI, it is been said that the expenditure to be incurred by the contesting candidates or the Political Parties should not exceed the limit of Rs 20 lakhs.
ECI said that to have uniform rates of various items that could be used by the contesting candidates during the Bye-election the office of the Collector North Goa has convened a meeting recently in consultations with the representatives of various Political Parties.
The by-elections for Panjim and Valpoi assembly constituencies are scheduled on August 23 and counting on August 28.
BJP candidate- Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has filed his nomination from Panjim, while Health Minister is fielded in Valpoi assembly seat.
Congress too has announced their candidate- Girish Chodankar in Panjim and Roy Naik in Valpoi, both who will be filing their nominations on Friday.
The last date for filing the nomination is August 5.
