Mapusa (Goa) District Court in Mapusa today framed charges against Tehelka Founder Editor Tarun Tejpal in connection with the rape case filed against him in the year 2013. The trial will begin now from November 21.

District Judge Vijaya Pol will try Tejpal under   sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 376 sub section  2 (F) and (K) (rape) and 354 (A) and (B) (criminal assault with intent to disrobe a woman) of Indian Penal Code.

The accused has been charged of raping a colleague in a lift of a five star hotel during an event in Goa in the year 2013.

Earlier this week, Bombay High Court at Goa had refused to stay framing of charges against him, while issuing notice to the State government.

The High Court had however restrained the District Court from examining the evidence in this case.
