A dedicated multi-level car park, alcohol and drug rehabilitation centre, garbage treatment plant are amongst those various public utilities proposed under the draft Outline Development Plan (ODP) for Calangute-Candolim planning and development area.

The draft plan is kept open for fresh public suggestion and objections for a period of 60-days from February 5.

NGPDA chairman Michael Lobo today said that the land constraint has forced NGPDA to seek help from Communidade of both the areas. “Due to haphazard planning, there is no more land available for planning. Hence, we have request communidade of Calangute and Candolim to provide their land,” he said.

Nearly eight lakh sq mtrs of communidade land in Calangute- Candolim will be used for construction of public utilities, Lobo added.

The public projects like garbage plant, animal shelter, alcohol and drug rehabilitation centre, multi-level parking, play ground, market complex, health centre, new 25 meter road, etc, are proposed under the draft plan.

“The final plan will be ready in next three months. It will be placed before the town and country planning board for approval,” he said.
