GOA: EDUCATION DEPT SEEKS REPORT FROM SCHOOL IN THE MINOR ASSAULT CASE

Panaji (Goa) A day after state police booked a primary teacher for assaulting a nine year old boy during the examination; the Directorate of Education has directed the school management to submit the action taken report in the matter.

Calangute police have booked an offence against the teacher, whose identity is not disclosed, under stringent Goa Children’s Act.

The mother of the minor boy on Monday filed a complaint against the teacher for physically assaulting and mentally harassing her nine year old minor boy during the exam hours on Saturday.

Education Director GP Bhat said that the particular incident has been seriously considered by the department and accordingly directions are issued to school management to conduct preliminary inquiry and submit a report.

“Necessary action against the teacher would be initiated post inquiry,” he said.

police have registered cognizable offence against the teacher under section 323 of Indian Penal Code and section 8 of Goa Children’s Act.
