GOA: ESCAPED MURDER CONVICT IN SHIMLA RUNS OUT OF LUCK, CAUGHT BY CALANGUTE POLICE

Calangute (Goa): A murder convict, who escaped from the Central Jail in Shimla a week ago was arrested from the tourist poplar Calangute beach belt this morning. 
 
Darshan Kumar, aged 46 years and a native of Shimla had escaped from the custody of the Central jail, Kanda-Shimla on November 12. As per reports, Kumar was undergoing life sentence and was lodged in Kanda Jail since 2012 year  for murder and robbery charges. While in jail, he was engaged in sale of bakery items and other canteen jobs. 
 
“On November 12, he managed to escape from the legal custody of the jail authorities. Subsequently an offence was lodged by Shimla Sadar Police station under sections 223 and 224 IPC,” police inspector Jivba Dalvi said. 
 
Based on a tip off he received this morning, Dalvi formed a search operation and proceeded to trace the accused. After many efforts and a massive search Kumar was apprehended from near fish market,” he said adding that the accused was planning to leave Goa. The Shimla Sadar police station have been informed to take the custody of Kumar.
