Panaji (Goa): Shiv Sena has formally filed complaint with the vigilance department over the fake inspection carried out by Excise Inspector Prashant Paiginkar attached to Sanguem station and also against Sarpanch of Netravali Panchayat Rajani Gaonkar for rigging the No Objection Certificate required to run the liquor business.

“The conduct of Excise Inspector indicates unbecoming of the government servant who has been mandated with the work of ensuring that the illegal sale of liquor in Sanguem area is curbed. The party had to approach Vigilance Department after it came to light that Painginkar has conducted fake inspection to grant excise licence to one Asha Laxman Gawas at Muddiwada, Netravali,” Sena’s Goa spokesman Rakhi Prabhudesai Naik said in a press conference here.

The license was granted to the structure House No 261 while the business is being conducted in illegally constructed structure 300 meters away. This is done with the entire knowledge of Paiginkar and the Sarpanch, she alleged.

The panchayat has granted no objection certificate to Gawas on July 13, 2017 through a panchayat resolution without waiting to confirm in the next meeting. Panchayat Secretary had pointed out this illegality through this noting.

Despite having full knowledge about the illegalities, Paiginkar has granted excise license bearing registration number RS/FCL/375 to Gawas.

Sena alleges that this could not have happened without money exchanging hands as Panikkar has no reason to favor Gawas risking his own job. We have asked Vigilance department to investigate into the affair and suspend him pending inquiry.

The party will also meet Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who is also Vigilance department minister to point out the corruption at the grass root level. We will also demand that all the licenses granted Paiginkar during his tenure as Excise Inspector should be investigated as this may be a part of a larger racket run by him.

Sena also wants the investigation into whether Paiginkar is alone responsible for this act or there are more officers from his department who are shielding him.
