Panaji (Goa) The craze that was associated with the by-election in Panaji did not translate into the voting. Panaji and Valpoi both the constituencies registered less voting compared to the 2017 general election.
Panaji constituency recorded 70 per cent polling while Valpoi had 79.80 per cent voters casting their votes for the by-election that was held today in both the constituencies.
“The final polling figures stand at 70 per cent in Panaji constituency and 79.80 per cent in Valpoi,” said Chief Electoral Officer Kunal. The voting which began at 8 am culminated at 5 p.m.
Kunal said that both the constituencies recorded less voting compared to 2017 General Assembly polls. Panaji had recorded 77.06 per cent during February 2017 election while Valpoi had 86.29 per cent voting during last time.
Briefing press persons in the evening after the voting was over, Parrikar accused Congress of trying to sabotage the election process. He said that he has already submitted certain complaints to the Election Commission of India which are currently kept confidential.
The chief minister said that he would release the documents related to the complaint if Election Commission of India does not take action within seven days.
