Vasco (Goa) Mathew Dias from Raia was supposed to take last night flight to reach to Mumbai and join his duty on the ship after finishing with his vacations. But the continued delay of the flights at Goa airport has left him stranded there since last night.
The Air India flight which was supposed to arrive at 4 in the morning got delayed, making him miss further links, and probably the job. Left devasted, Mathew wants airport authority, at least to give letter confirming the delay in the flight, which he can produce to save his job. But Airport Authority of India is not in a position to do that.
Mathew is one amongst the hundreds of passengers who are currently stranded at Goa airport due to delay in the flights. On an average there is delay by at least three hours.
“The flight which was supposed to depart at 7 a.m. is now scheduled at 10 a.m. and we are not sure whether it would be delayed further,” a passenger who is on the way to Mumbai said.
The panic and frustration loomed large at the airport when the airlines officials were not able to give satisfactory reply to the questions of the passengers over the delay.
Sources claimed that the crisis at Mumbai airport has cascading effect over the flight arrivals and departures from Goa. Also the incessant rains have become an impediment in the flight moments.
