Porvorim (Goa) The battle lines are drawn for the important Rajya Sabha election scheduled to be held tomorrow. The candidates in the fray are BJP Goa Chief Vinay Tendulkar and his Congress counterpart Shantaram Naik.
The poll will decide whether Naik is able to retain the seat third time in the row. The sitting Rajya Sabha member is banking on support from like minded parties to win the election.
BJP which is supported by its alliance partners – Goa Forward party, MGP and Independents – is confident of winning the polls as the number is at their side. BJP has its own 12 legislators and is supported by three each from GFP, MGP and Independents.
With this the tally of BJP’s Tendulkar is touching mark of 21 in the 38 member House. Two legislators – Siddharth Kuncolienkar and Vishwajit Rane has resigned from their post.
Congress is on the other side left with its 16 legislators. Naik today said that he is hopeful of winning the election.
